The main Critical Blow attack is a big double footed kick which you’ll need to deflect just as the feet are coming towards you. You aren’t safe getting behind it either, as one of its core moves (regardless of where you are in comparison to Zhuyan) is a 360-degree tail sweep, intended to keep forcing you to create distance between you and it. Zhuyan will perform a number of swipes with its paws, as well as ground pounds that you will need to steer clear of. Lock-on is, as you would expect, almost obligatory here. The main things to look out for with Zhuyan is its movement speed (not attack speed), with the ability to traverse the entire length of the arena very quickly. With slower moves, you are far more likely to execute successful deflections of both regular and Critical Blow attacks, and the additional benefit of having Zhao Yun there by default allows him to draw some aggro just in case you get overwhelmed and need a moment to heal and recenter. You will likely be around Rank 13, and Zhuyan will be around 10, if all goes well in your run up to this point.Įven if not, Zhuyan is more of a miniboss in this level than a full-on boss fight, with a more limited moveset and very telegraphed attack patterns. This is likely going to be a much easier fight for many players, as Zhuyan will be a couple of Morale Ranks below you if you haven’t died, explored all previous areas, and interacted with all Battle and Marking Flags. Zhuyan is a giant ape, and unlike Zhang Liang, only has one real phase.
